One of the greatest things our generation has given us is memes.
Don't know what memes are? You must being living under a rock, but hey, I respect that and will explain.

According to Google, the definition is as follows:
plural noun: memes
  1. an element of a culture or system of behavior that may be considered to be passed from one individual to another by nongenetic means, especially imitation.
    • a humorous image, video, piece of text, etc., that is copied (often with slight variations) and spread rapidly by Internet users.

    • Unlike those chairs (see previous post), memes definitely bring me joy. In fact, I am going to make make a confident generalization that memes bring a lot of people joy.  From relevant trends, like the dancing Snapchat hot dog ( oh God I love him so much) to older television shows and pictures, they  are a simple way to make anyone laugh out loud.  Not only are they funny, but they can be super deep as well.  They are usually paired with either direct quotes from the images, video, etc. or some witty caption that the creator itself comes up with.

When I get home from work, being out, or even bored during the day, I go to Instagram account that are solely dedicated to the art of memes. You might think that is stupid, but it helps me escape from looking at all the vacations, pretty pictures, and fun I envy on my feed. Let's admit it, sometimes looking at other people's accounts can make you feel a little insecure and compare yourself to others. Not always, but sometimes.. SO memes are a perfect alternative. You can't be jealous of a meme because they are meant to make you laugh or feel included. Lots of them are relatable to the everyday human being. Just out there chilling, trying to get by. Makes you feel like you are not alone. Sending them to your friends is also one of the best parts so you can both LOL together even if you aren't physically together.

    • So here I sit, enjoying my (third) afternoon cup of coffee before work, soaking up the simple joys of memes.  Ah, the good life.

Until next time,
